I had a random thought as I was buzzing around the internet tonight about "You Tube" and it's role in the cyber bullying ring. As I was searching I found numerous video's on the effects or how to stop the problem. However, I wanted to know if anybody would post idea's or tips on how to be a more effective bully. I was wondering if anybody was bold enough to post something like that on you tube. However, as I was searching I came across a vidcast by, what I believe to be, a student talking about how teachers are getting cyber bullied. Students will take video's of teachers with mobile phones and post them online.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28wPz-v7d4k is the video i'm talking about. The student gets a little preachy but I thought he makes some interesting points. Moreover, some of the comments are just downright nasty.
"Teachers are weak...its their fault if they are being recorded or whatever, they obviously havnt spent anytime trying to earn the respect of their pupils. Teachers that are funny and friendly will not get this time of thing done to them..."
"err, respect for teachers is all i yawningly hear these days, teachers ge away with verbal abuse and all sorts of bullying."
Now i'm not going to take these comments as what the average student thinks of teachers but it's interesting how we can be viewed. I havn't looked for any of these "embarassing" online teacher video's yet. I'm not even sure it's as big of a problem as some of this initial evidence shows. However, if it is a problem how can we protect ourselves if that one slip of the tongue or accidental outburst gets broadcast all over the internet?
